About... The Glam Contest project is a monthly competition taking place on FFXIV (Final Fantasy XIV online). People submits in-game outfit following the current theme. Once the submition phase is over, a magazine is made which is used for a vote to elect the winner. The magazines are usually about 48 - 80 pages long. The event is the solution to a simple need. How to make a community active ? The answer we find is simple, engaging them with a monthly activity.
In FFXIV, the variety of creation with the outfits in the game is wide and possibilities are infinite. A monthly Fashion competition is a good way to engage people in the game in running content with the community to get the pieces of outfits they need. Also, it create a common goal for this community members.
To make this contest stand out, it needed a visual identity, fashion is heavily related to magazines (Vogue, Elle..) so that’s why we decided to create a monthly magazine to go along the contest. A book they can read, share and look forward to the next entries. The first edition was in April 2023, back then it wasn’t acted to do it monthly. The recurrent elements of the layout will come in later editions. This first edition had for theme Black and White. It also had plenty of contestant and voters for a first attempt, what ended up motivating more and more editions With around 20 entries until today, it’s a real little collection of magazines. This monthly project allowed me to improve layout skills but by keeping a fast rythm to keep uploading entries on time.
